Basic Photography and Playback: A (Auto) Mode
Using the Flash
The flash mode can be set to match the shooting conditions.
When ISO sensitivity is set to Auto, the flash has a range of 0.5-6.0 m (1 ft.
8 in.-19 ft.) at the maximum wide-angle zoom position and a range of 0.7-2.5 m
(2 ft. 4 in.-8 ft.) at the maximum telephoto zoom position.
Setting the Flash Mode
1 Press the multi selector m (flash mode).
The flash mode menu is displayed.
2 Press the multi selector H or I to choose the
desired mode and press the k button.
The icon for the selected flash mode is displayed.
When U (auto) is applied, D is only displayed for a
few seconds, regardless of Photo info settings (A 126).
If a setting is not applied by pressing the k button
within a few seconds, the selection will be canceled.
U Auto
Flash fires automatically when lighting is dim.
V Auto with red-eye reduction
Reduce “red-eye” in portraits (A 31).
W Off

X Fill flash

backlit subjects.
Y Slow sync
U (auto) is combined with slow shutter speed.
Suited to evening and night portraits that include background scenery.
